Blogs get you to the top of the engines in no time flat - The Proof

I posted “10 Tips to Help Improve Your Natural Search Engine Ranking” on May 23, 2005. In less than 2 weeks, both Google’s and AOL’s search results list the Think Green Media Blog on the 1st page of search results for improve natural search results.

Google ranked the blog post as numero uno and AOL listed the post as 1 or 3 in its results, depending on when I searched.

What does this prove? A couple things.

  • One - that Google and AOL may spider blogs quicker than Yahoo, Alta Vista, MSN, etc.
  • And Two - Blogs can get you to the top of the search engines very quickly. In this case, in less than 2 weeks

Now for the caveats:

  • improve natural search results may not be the best phrase to optimize your site/blog for because its not a heavily searched phrase. Or, it is a great phrase to optimize for because nobody has optimized for it yet and it’s very specific! Get under the wire my friend!
  • And Two ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äú While the search results ranked the post as number 1 or 3 , that could all change very soon and you could be knocked to page 3 or 300. Search engines could change their algorithms (which I hear Google is doing at the moment), or someone else may optimize for this exact phrase, or, or, or.

That?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s the nature of search engine marketing. On the front page today, fighting to back on the front page tomorrow. But as you can see, with blogs, you have a fighting chance.
