Green living tip - go green, buy a new or used hybrid car
Gas prices have reached $3 a gallon, up 50 percent in three years, and may soon go up to $4 a gallon (it’s already happened in some areas). This has gotten some people looking to downsize their car. Some are looking to buy a new or used hybrid car.
Buying a hybrid car
Whether your motivation is green living or saving money at the pump, it looks like hybrid cars are becoming more of a consideration as sales have grown by 40% in the past year. Still the hybrid car is just 3% of the US sale in 2007 and only .3 percent of registered vehicles.
The problem of adoption is not so much that cost, the speed or the style of the hybrid car. It’s that only about 6% of people buy a new car each year.
Case in point - I had my last car for almost 10 years. The odometer read 175K. It would have read more, but it didn’t calculate mileage the last year I drove it.
Regardless, if you are looking to buy a hybrid car, here are 2 you may want to consider.
The two best hybrid car sellers
- Toyota’s Prius hybrid - about 21K
- Honda’s Civic hybrid - about 22K
The Toyota Prius has out sold the Honda Civic Hybrid by 5 to 1 in 2007.
