Better World Club, founded by Mitch Rofsky (a former employee of Ralph Nader’s Public Citizen), provides nationwide roadside assistance. Better World Club is the nation’s only environmentally friendly auto club. Membership includes eco-travel services, discounts on hybrid cars, insurance services, free maps, auto maintenance discounts and bicycle roadside assistance. Better World Club donates 1% of annual revenues toward environmental cleanup and advocacy.

This is the model for change. Buying products and services that support the environment, not abuse it. Waiting on elected officials won’t do anything but get you re-defined terms for organic, clean air, and clean water that allow for more wiggle room for polluters.

If you want cleaner air you need to make decisions to support that. Buy organic, buy local, keep air in car tires, turn the lights off and use clean energy, support non-profits, elect offficials based on your and the environment’s health.

And most importantly be informed. Keep up on local events that effect the environment, sign up for e-newsletters, send letters to elected officials. Be informed, act on it.
