In our world where everything is bigger and better and consumes more energy we have another concern. The wide screen TV.

It’s bad enough that we watch the TV for hours on end when there is nothing on. Really, what else is worth watching other than Shark Week? But now every minute we waste in front of the TV not doing something productive, (and yes relaxing is productive too, but not when you click the remote for 2 hours then fall asleep) we will be contributing to brown outs and the energy crisis. Perfect.

As TVs grow, so do electric bills
Not long ago, Andrew Fanara was shopping with his wife for a new big-screen television. Everything was going fine, until the sales clerk discovered Mr. Fanara was an energy watchdog for the federal government. Pulling Fanara aside, the clerk confessed: His own new 61-inch TV gulped electricity the way a big SUV guzzles gasoline.
